Are paddle boards allowed on the lake?

I would guess yes, but I don't know for sure, I would recommend to call the Marina. They had boat rentals and they would know the lake rules for sure.

The Wheeler Family homesteaded the area in 1921 with three children. The area they lived is mostly covered by the lake now. The marker talks about how they made a life despite the harsh winters and survived on grouse and snowshoe hare. They lost two babies at birth, Ruth in 1928 and Sonny in 1930.

What's the winter camping like here? The website says 12 electric sites at the marina. I'm wondering how popular it is. In other words, if we make the 25+ mile journey up there in January are we likely to get one of the 12 sites? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Mike from Fort Collins.

You can hike to the swim beach or drive there. To drive, you'll go out to the main road (County Road 62) and take a left. Drive about 1/2 mile and turn left into the Dutch Hill entrance. The Swim Beach is right beside the Marina Parking Lot. To hike, walk toward the Arnica Loop. You'll see the trailhead to the Willow Creek Trail on your left before you get to Arnica. Walk down the connector trail to the Willow Creek Trail and take a right. The hike is around 1/2 mile. You can see park maps on the park website.
