There is no place to rent towels at the beach. But if you walk about one block from the beach (or drive to their parking lot) at Souvenir City (or Alvin's Island or Surf Style) you can buy fancy beach towels at about $20.00 each, often embroidered with "Gulf Shores". If you don't want to pay that much, stop at one of the three Wal-Marts on Highway 59 while going South to the beach. You should be able to buy basic large bath towels for about $5.00 and that would cost less than any rental service. The Wal-Mart on Fort Morgan Road just East of Rt 59 is close to the beach and will have a variety of beach towels too. If you don't want to bring towels home at the end of your stay, give them to any large family at the beach (they probably could use more after washing them).
