Lionsgate, the studio behind the John Wick and The Hunger Games franchises, has raised some eyebrows by signing a deal with AI firm Runway to train an AI model on its film and TV library.

Entertainment giants Lionsgate are partnering with artificial intelligence (AI) company Runway to allow a new AI model to be trained on their extensive film and TV archive. Lionsgate, the studios behind series such as The Hunger Games and John Wick, will benefit by being able to use the resulting AI technology in future productions.

Lionsgate, the Hollywood studio behind the John Wick and Hunger Games franchises, has announced a first-of-its-kind partnership with AI video startup Runway that will see the artificial intelligence company develop a custom model trained on the studio's content.

Runway will use Lionsgate's vast catalog to train a model that the studio's filmmakers can then use to help make new content.
