An East Texas District Attorney’s Office has addressed recent school threats in their community. The Cass County District Attorney’s Office in partnership with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Cass County Sheriff’s Department addressed the recent school threats and hoaxes in the community including Sulphur Springs,

The threat was traced back to a juvenile in Cass County. When they were questioned by law enforcement, the juvenile admitted to making the threat as a hoax. The juvenile has been arrested for terroristic threat to a school.

The Cass County Criminal District Attorney’s Office recently took note of the inundation in social media school threats via a statement posted on Facebook.

There have been several incidents in East Texas & Northwest Louisiana that have sparked concern in the community.

Four middle school students from Bastrop were charged after the district dealt with social media threats Tuesday.

FOX 26 Reporter Abigail Dye spoke with Alfredo Alberto, Program Coordinator with Prarie View A&M University, who councils youth for a living. He says in each of the school incidents, students need council.

While threats such as these are becoming more frequent across the region and nation, and most are not credible, we take every threat seriously,” a District 189 statement says.

Nexstar stations across Texas have reported threats to at least 20 schools just this month. On Tuesday, four Bastrop Middle School students were arrested after a threat toward the school was posted on social media.
