With hours left until Election Day 2024, here's when to vote, where to vote and how to get live election results after polls close.

Maine and Nebraska award two electoral votes to the statewide winner and a single electoral vote to the winner of each congressional district. (Maine has two congressional districts, and Nebraska has three.) Historical election results for these districts are calculated based on votes cast within the current boundaries of the district.

As voters head to the polls, here’s a guide to when polling places close in each state. Keep in mind that initial results may begin to be reported shortly after polls close, though final tallies often take longer,

WASHINGTON - Polling places across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia will open on Election Day. There are several key races across the DMV and election officials encourage voters to familiarize themselves with their ballots before heading to the polls.

It's likely not your first time voting in Virginia, but here's a refresher on what you can and can't do at the polls, per state law and the Department of Elections. P.S. Don't forget to check your polling place here and to bring your ID.

As the vote count continues a day after election day, officials are reacting to some projected wins, including Senate races in Maryland and Virginia. This story will be updated as more races are called.
