Adapted from Gill Hornby's best-selling novel of the same name, the story is told from Cassandra Austen's perspective, the sister of Jane Austen, and is set decades after Jane's death in which an elderly Cassandra recalls her youth and relationship with her late sibling.

Jessica Hynes (Life After Life, Years and Years), and Kevin McNally (The Crown, Ten Percent) also star across the costume drama.
