Republicans have managed to hold on to their slim majority in the House of Representatives, NBC News projects. In doing so, they've captured a trifecta in Washington once more, with control over both chambers of Congress and the White House.

A House Republican victory in Arizona, alongside a win in slow-counting California earlier Wednesday, gave the GOP the 218 House victories that make up the majority. Republicans earlier gained control of the Senate from Democrats.

The Republican Party will remain in control of the U.S. House, securing a supermajority for the next two years.

President-elect Trump now has a clear path to enact his agenda and fill out his administration with both the House and Senate in Republican hands come January.

Republicans have also taken control of the Senate. Republicans gained control of the House two years ago during the 2022 midterm elections. While there was no “red wave” as had been predicted, they were able to flip 19 districts from blue to red.

Republicans will keep control of the House of Representatives, giving President-elect Donald Trump’s party a powerful trifecta of control over the White House and both chambers of Congress. NBC News and CBS News projected Republicans' razor-thin majority on Wednesday with the GOP picking up at least 218 seats to Democrats' 211.
